William Kahn represents publicly and privately held companies, as well as major investors, from around the world in complex U.S. and other cross-border mergers & acquisitions that involve significant regulatory and government issues.

He has been the partner and lead counsel in charge of over 100 mergers, acquisitions or dispositions.

Many of his clients are French or Swiss companies and investors, in transactions in which their counterpart is U.S., is subject to U.S. securities laws or has significant U.S.-based equity holders.

His emphasis is on industries in which mergers & acquisitions generate industry-related U.S. federal and state regulatory and governmental issues, including matters involving government contracts, foreign investment controls and U.S. national security, export controls, foreign ownership, control or influence, white collar, “economic intelligence” matters and various federal and state government approval issues.

William advises clients in a number of industries, including aerospace, defense, government contracting, nuclear energy, air and ground transport, security solutions and secured ID and networks, pharmaceuticals and certain sensitive areas of chemicals.

In addition, William has experience as a mergers & acquisition counsel being brought into ongoing transactions that at some point in their processes became faced with significant U.S. compliance and regulatory issues which potentially threatened the completion of the transactions.

William is regularly interviewed by European news publications in connection with issues arising in European investments and acquisitions in the United States, including for example cross-border securities regulation in the United States and European acquisitions in the U.S.

He has been interviewed on BFM Business and RFI Radio, and cited and quoted several times in Les Echos and Le Figaro, as well as La Tribune, Le Point, AGEFI and other news media.
