Ignacio Jauregui represents lenders and borrowers in corporate and project financings, and restructuring transactions. Ignacio also advises companies and private equity investors on domestic and cross-border corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate governance.
In recent years, Ignacio has been the lead attorney on financings for over $3 billion in transactions involving a number of sectors, including energy, infrastructure, transport, health, education, agriculture, water, and disaster risk management. Ignacio has also been the lead attorney in several high profile transactions with multilateral organizations, donors and financiers of trust funds operating in the development field all over the world. These include the Global Environment Facility, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, among others.
In addition, Ignacio assists clients with policy compliance of the World Bank and other multilateral financial institutions, including procurement, anti-corruption, and environmental safeguards.
Ignacio brings a strategic yet empathetic approach to solving complex transactional problems. He offers his clients creative solutions that not only meet their legal needs, but also take into account business considerations and the bigger picture.
Growing up speaking English, Spanish, and French, coupled with his training as a lawyer in both the common and civil law systems, gives Ignacio a particular perspective. He recognizes that focusing on differences in law is not the single driver in negotiating cross-border transactions. Ignacio appreciates the importance of culture and understanding of the parties' unique business environment, and their political and legal systems.
Prior to founding Jauregui Partners, Ignacio worked at the World Bank Legal Vice Presidency, structuring and negotiating the legal aspects of operations in Latin America, Caribbean, Europe and Central Asia. Before joining the World Bank, Ignacio worked at a big international law firm in Washington, DC where he was a member of the corporate, international business transactions, and project finance practice groups, which he joined after practicing law at two prominent law firms in Bolivia.
Between December 2019 and July 2020, Ignacio took a leave of absence from the Law Firm to support the Bolivian Mission to the Organization of American States as deputy head of mission.
